WE LOVED HOSTING TABATHA ROSPROY FOR THIS YEAR'S EVENT!

WATCH THIS PAGE AND CONNECT WITH US ON SOCIAL MEDIA FOR INFORMATION ABOUT OUR NEXT SPEAKER EVENT.

The Peggy Hibbert Enlightenment Speaker Series is a series of educational events created in honor of Dr. Peggy Hibbert. Peggy Hibbert was devoted to the mission of supporting families with young children. Her passion for early education and early intervention is reflected in her many years of involvement at Project Enlightenment as a parent, a doctoral student intern, and eventually as the staff coordinator of the Demonstration Preschool. Her vision and willingness to step forward as the first volunteer President led to the creation of the Project Enlightenment Foundation.  She helped establish the first Board of Directors for the Foundation and set forth the goals and mission of the Foundation. Donations made in her memory help us continue her mission of education through the Peggy Hibbert Enlightenment Speaker Series.

This year's speaker, Tabatha Rosproy, is the 2020 National Teacher of the Year and the first Early Childhood (Pre-K) Educator to be awarded the honor since the award's inception in 1952.

Tabatha has experience teaching both typically developing and special education preschoolers. She designed and implemented a unique classroom setting housed in a retirement community and nursing home, where four-year-old students interact daily with community residents. The residents serve as volunteer “grandmas” and “grandpas,” reading with the children, playing games, and attending field trips.

Now a 13-year veteran teacher, Tabatha is the Early Childhood Project Coordinator for the Kansas Parent Information Resource Center, where she provides training on best practices in Early Childhood Education and Family Engagement to school districts and organizations statewide. She is also a Certified Instructor for Conscious Discipline and spends her extra time speaking, training, and collaborating with educators all over the country.

Tabatha joins us to discuss how we can help children learn to self-regulate and calm their fears and anxieties, so they can block out the noise of the world around them and not sweat the small stuff.
