"Raising Joyful, Resilient Kids"

Leading child psychologist Dr. Mona Delahooke will share her new, groundbreaking understanding of children’s behavior, offering insight and strategies to support both parents and children. Participants will come to understand when parents shift from trying to secure compliance to supporting connection and balance in the body and mind, they unlock a deeper understanding of their child, encouraging calmer behavior, more harmonious family dynamics, and increased resilience. We all need that right now!

Preschool teachers, parents, and caregivers of young children will benefit from hearing Dr. Delahooke review the “top-down” approach to behavior that focuses on the thinking brain, and instead call for a “bottom-up” approach.  This radical new approach, based on her clinical experience as well as the most recent research in neuroscience and child psychology, considers the essential role of the entire nervous system, which produces children’s feelings and behaviors.  "When we begin to understand the biology beneath the behavior", suggests Dr. Delahooke, "we give our children the resources they need to grow and thrive—and we give ourselves the gift of a happier, more connected relationship with them".

The Peggy Hibbert Enlightenment Speaker Series is a series of educational events created in honor of Dr. Peggy Hibbert. Peggy Hibbert was devoted to the mission of supporting families with young children. Her passion for early education and early intervention is reflected in her many years of involvement at Project Enlightenment as a parent, a doctoral student intern, and eventually as the staff coordinator of the Demonstration Preschool. Her vision and willingness to step forward as the first volunteer President led to the creation of the Project Enlightenment Foundation.  She helped establish the first Board of Directors for the Foundation and set forth the goals and mission of the Foundation. Donations made in her memory help us continue her mission of education through the Peggy Hibbert Enlightenment Speaker Series.
